October 2023 reading list selections consist of books that both inspired me and served as research to write The Legend of the Kid’s Bat, my first self-published novel. The books include the basis for the classic Robert Redford film and character Roy Hobbs, biographies on arguably the greatest natural hitter to play the game, a book on baseball told in his own words by Ted Williams, a classic account of the Red Sox versus Yankees rivalry and last but certainly not least a few titles from the wonderful Matt Christopher who single handedly hooked me on reading as a kid after checking out one of his titles from the school library in the fifth grade. They all relate to the game and its’ players in a time gone by and nearly forgotten from today’s game of baseball. They are also a few of my favorite books written about the game of baseball.
